Water Sports in Phuket

If water is your thing and you like sports, then Phuket has a lot to offer! If you are visiting Phuket during the low season to escape the crowds and you dont mind a little (well sometimes not so little!) rain, then you can enjoy the myriads of water sports available in Phuket.

So here is the list which I will keep growing as new activities come to the Phuket scene:

Cable Skiing - say what? Principal is simple; a lake, a cable and you on a board! The cable is suspended on poles on the side of the lake, so no danger to you in the water, and from the starting point it powered to simply go around the lake. You grab a rope with a handle like standard waterskiing and you et hook on the main cable.....off you go.

Beginners will find it quite easy and it quickly becomes a lot of fun. So try it out.......

Parasailing - costing somewhere B.700, you get to experience parachuting not from a plane but dragged by a long rope attached to a speedboat! The experience is amazing and worth every baht you will spend for the short 3-4 minutes ride. This is available on most beaches in Phuket, starting off with Patong, just go to the beach and look around.

Surfing - Surfing is not so popular here as we do not get the massive Hawaii waves. Kalim, end of Kamala beach, Karon beach and Surin beach offer rideable waves during the rainy season. If you walk around these beaches you will find the surfers and their have all the information you need to also catch your next wave! Mix with the locals!!!

Windsurfing - Windsurfing is available in the North and the South of the Island on Rawai. Kite Surfing - It is slowly picking up in Phuket and there are a number of operations offering equipment and lessons. They offer day lessons and packaged lessons at very affordable prices compared to Europe. I currently have only 1 address for the Rawai Kitesurfing School but I know there is another one on the North of Phuket near by the airport on the beautiful beach called Nai Yang Beach.
